A MIDI Synchronizer

Receiving MIDI messages means passing asynchronous data from the outside into a synchronous system. This requires methods, e.g., a synchronizer, to restore order between asynchronous and synchronous signals. The synchronizer is triggered by the transition at the beginning of the start bit, waits for half a bit to be sure the start bit is still present, and then examines the data value at the middle of each MIDI bit. The stop bit finally terminates the MIDI byte and is the resting state if no new MIDI byte is sent
